lets try to make a list of Modchips that can play backups online, even the games with DNAS-protection..

I will start of with my Messiah1. Tested on my v5. Tested with PAL Socom.

I will later edit this thread, as you post your modchips, so it will be a list in this post...

Possibly a sticky if ppl send in their results...

Ummm, are you talking about playing backups or originals? To my knowledge, there are no mod chips that will allow you to play backups of the latest crop of DNAS games like Madden and ESPN NFL online.

Yeah I think so that is the problem.. But Socom PAL a copy on cd-r works. And it has DNAS-protection... I dont have a clue why that works. Might be because its only looking for cheats...

Ok, I might be able to help a little. Soon I will get Destruction Derby Arena BETA then I can test if that game depends on the disc or if it detects a modchip.. If it detects a modchip I will try to investigate building a switch for my Messiah1.

But I dont think anyone has done that yet so I doubt I will be the one figuring out what wires should be cut etc. Removing the power from the chip might be easy but what if the PS2 is putting electricity between to points and if it connects there's a modchip... for example a wire from the modchip to the mobo or something... WTH I am just speculating hehehe.

Has anyone playd backup Socom PAL on online yet?

If I download the game from internet and burn in on DVD-disc can I play it on online?

I have DMS3(Version2) chip

Cofi

Yes it atleast worked on my Messiah1. And I have read that it worked for other as well. I think it's because the Socom DNAS is weak, only checks if you are cheating...

dude, you have a messiah 1, so use PSX mode, psx mode is virtually just about off.

I have 2 Ps2's one fitted with a messiah 1 the other with a messiah 2.
Neither will go online with a backup of socom however i can perform a simple switch with a backup once the dnas check has finished, meaning i need to only buy 1 original rather than 2.

Warhammer40,000 - fire warrior, the same here with my messiah 1 however with messiah 2 i have to switch the chip off to get online so unable to switch with a backup as the chip is off.

I have no idea why the dnas is not finding my messiah 1 as this cannot be switched off like the messiah 2 can be?

Both games are in PAL format by the way.

hmmm if you can't connect to SOCOM there must be some other problems. But it works good on mine, and I have a router too.

I'm picking up my network adapter today and was just wondering, does the PS2 network check for modchips (like the Xbox network)? and if you attempt to use a backup copy online, will you be banned from the network (like with Xbox), or will it just tell you to 'try again'?

I have a magic 3.1 and when it is in sleep mode, I still cannot play my originals online!! It gives me a DNAS error. Would a toggle switch fix this solution?

I have a toggle switch installed (I did it this afternoon) on my Magic V7. I can turn it off after the "Playstation 2" screen and boot, but I get error message -402 from DNAS. I have no way of knowning if they banned my IP or if they it detected the backup disc. I can't remember if the first time I encountered DNAS was with a backup or original, but the game I rented was NFL2K4. I can still play SOCOM 1 so I don't think my IP was banned from the network. To my knowledge, DNAS checks your hardware. I guess it could check the disc as well. I will rent a DNAS game to test the disabled modchip approach.

Only if the games are not DNAS enabled, in which atm most of the new games released have DNAS.

Just to let everybody know you are able to play the FIRST SOCOM ONLINE. you cant play it with the new One SOCOM II''

so dont think that you guys just made some kind of trick or something try to use your back up on SOCOM II and see if you are able to logg on without any DNAS error :)

Socom 2 always goes online.. it says it is checking DNAS, but it isnt ( it is, but it will continue anyway ). you can compare it to the older online PS2 games, ( tony hawk ) that will go online with a mod.

But games like destruction derbt won't work with a mod. And all other new online games.

There is a cracked version with DNAS disabled. But no one seems to know where it came from.

Is there a Modchip in the market that with u can play backup PS2 games without see'ing the DNAs Security, and witch u have nothing to do with a backup (removing files excetra)

Sorry for my English :S

i have a magic v 5k6 in my ver 10 ps2 and i can play socom 2 back ups online no problem(and any online game for that matter), AS long as u patch the id from a legal copy, so if u download the game as some of you have stated it might not have the id patched onto the game so no those games would not work unless you patched them your self. any mod chip should play online if that game is patched as for the dnas error 402 its refering to the detection of a cheat device/mod chip so no your switch does not work.

The DNAS on SOCOM 1 is just there for show it doesn't work, I've always been able to play Socom 1 PAL and NTSC on my PAL PS2.

Other games that work online are HardWare, Twisted Metal black and Firewarrior.
