Socom Question

I've never been able to get my headset to work with Socom. I know my SOCOM headset works because I've used it on my PC & with Madden 2004 (PS2).
Is there some trick to get the thing to work? Does the host enable this option? What would cause it not to work? Just some questions.

Sometimes, if the host has shitty speeds, the mic won't work but. to activate it hold O and wait for a small beep, after that just hold the O and talk.

Are you able to hear what your teammates are saying without pressing anything? Also, on the in game option screen, when I choose radio it has the options of team, offense, defense & something else. (i forget)
What do those mean? Sorry for so many questions.

It may be your router, I know some people have trouble getting their mic to work because of their router.

Why would it work with other games, but not Socom? Also are you able to hear what your teammates are saying without pressing anything? Also, what do those game options (radio-team, offense, defense & something else.) mean?

You should be able to hear what everyone is saying, and when you want to talk you hold down circle. And the other radio channels are for if you want to switch off team and go to defense with a few friends, and just talk privately or what not.

What other games does your mic work with...there are no other games with mic support...

ya i have a netgear router and sometimes it messes up my mic

but it only happens when im the game host.
