I think if he's gonna take the time out to make the guide the least the people that are going to be reading could do is wait. I think that he will tell us when it gets finished so we don't have anything to worry about.

It might be worthwhile to point out the address limitations on those codes. People will still ask, I'm sure, but it just might cut down a bit on the number of people asking why codes like
41560155 00040001
01010101 00000000

don't function. You alluded to the restrictions in your examples, but never came right out with it.

In the advanced condensing guide, you used 00040001 as your counter/offset multiplier and stated you'd explain what that part of the code did. I don't see it anywhere in there. I can't think of a good, completely non-technical way to explain that off the top of my head, so I don't envy you trying

Nice work.

GMO

i said i will post about it later as soon as i find out more info about it

Pyriel
08-09-2003, 09:13 AM
Hmmm so you did. What additional information do you need though? I always thought the function of that part of the code was pretty specific.

GMO
08-09-2003, 09:35 AM
according to the 4xxxxxxx > 00040001 < this affects who you are going to get
03030303 < keeps each persons value at 3 ( you get all there costumes and stuff > 00000000 i always kept it there

I bet your looking for guides that just have things about all those little symbols right? EX: a0, v1, addu, etc? Good luck finding one that has all of those symbols and thier functions. I've looked everywhere and I can't find anything that just has the symbols. I've seen them talk about some of them in guides but I haven't found a guide just about them. The only thing I could find relativly close to what I was looking for is that guide of MIPS that Ace1 has.

The first guide I read awhile back and the last one I read just recently. I have a fairly good understanding of some of the things but there is also a still a few things I have no clue on. BTW that 2nd guide is just a little weird. it opens in note pad but it is all cluttered and no very understandable. but I will read ass much of it as I can. Thanx dude, your the man.

This link is down. Is this guide posted anywhere else? I'm new to PS2 hacking and I was wondering how much program knowledge is needed. I'm real good with programs in assembler language and have a good knowledge of C++ would this be enough to hack PS2 games? Thanks.

GMO

dabsac
11-07-2003, 03:36 PM
They were very helpful. I learned that the assembly language that I'm familiar (68HC11) with is slightly different from the one used in the PS2 (MIPS). Many of the commands used in MIPS are slightly different than what I know and it looks like MIPS uses different registers also, so I'm going to have to learn more about the MIPS language before I'll be able to hack effectively.

Pyriel
11-07-2003, 04:41 PM
Heh, "slightly different." Do they still force students to use those old Motorola trainers in computer engineering classes or did you pick it up some place else?

Yeah they forced us to use the Motorola trainers, but I didn't use them in Computer engineering. I used it in Electronics engineering. You are right though the 2 languages are more than slightly different, but on most of the codes in MIPS I can figure out what they are trying to do simply because of my 68HC11 experience. I could probably pick up on the MIPS language quickly, because of what I know about the 68HC11.

Anyone knows of a software that allows you to hack ps2 codes instead of manually editing the ps2 disc memory itself?
I remember that in PSOne, you can connect it to a parallel port then install the software that comes with the device called PC Comms Link and the ps games then can be hacked through the software itself.
Thanks.

Tommy24
01-25-2004, 03:18 PM

Since you are the first one to post in this thread for over five years, I doubt very much if the other guys who posted here are ready to continue where they left off.

For cases like this you should open a new thread about your new issue instead, as the original topic of this thread has very little to do with your request. (Since your purpose is not to take part in making that ps2dis guide.)

Any serious game hacking project would belong in the Homebrew/Dev forum. And there you can just scroll down near the bottom of the page and use the "New Thread" button.

It's effect will be quite similar to that of the "New Reply" button inside a thread (which you already have used), with the difference that your post will be the first post in the new thread, and the title of that post will become the title of the thread as a whole. So it makes sense to use a good and meaningful title, so that others with similar interests are attracted to that thread.

Best regards: dlanor
