I just got the Pioneer A04 DVD burner, but the OEM version (DVR-104) so it was jut the drive, no cables, instructions, etc.
Well, I'm not a moron so I knew how to install it. Windows XP found the new hardware, but when I went to Windows Explorer, it listed its label as "CD Drive."
So I install PrimoDVD and had to reboot. I reboot, load PrimoDVD, and it tells me "No compatible Recorder drives have been found on this computer."
Now, I went back into Windows Explorer and it now says DVD-R Drive for a label, so that's good. I also went to Pioneer's website and there are no driver or firmware updates there, so I am not sure what's wrong.
Obviously, I do not want to try to burn a DVD-R and get an error right off the bat.
Why can't Primo find my DVD burner, and what can I do to make it recognize it?
Also, are there any other ways to find out if it's working? Device Manager says it is, but I mean, is there a program I can load up and somehow be able to tell if the DVD burner is recognized by it without wasting a DVD-R to tell?
Thanks.
